Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

About the job

DRC has been operating in Ukraine for more than 10 years with emergency and durable solution interventions for assisting IDPs, returnees, host communities, and conflict-affected populations. With the outbreak of the conflict in February 2022, DRC has shifted its programming to emergency response to meet the urgent needs of conflict-affected population in the country. The Demining Supervisor shall be able to lead TS/MMC/BAC process in Mykolaiv and assist the area south Technical Field Manager in prioritizing and planning EO Clearance tasks.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Supervise MMC/BAC DRC HDP Teams.
  • Support TFM/TA and QM unit in refresher training to MMC/BAC team when necessary.
  • Provide administrative, welfare and disciplinary supervision of all DRC HDP team members.
  • Represent the teams at all coordination meetings, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Conduct daily meetings with the teams to plan operational activities.
  • Report on MMC/BAC materials and equipment to the TFM.
  • Send daily reports to TFM.
  • Ensure that all operational equipment and running supplies and stock in the field are replenished on a timely manner.
  • Report any damages, malfunction or loss of any equipment.
  • Make sure that the driver maintains a vehicle mileage log.
  • Report to the management any vehicle break-down and unserviceability.
  • Be familiar with IMAS, NMAS and DRC HDP SOP and procedures in relation to NTS/TS/MMC/BAC.
  • Be overall charge of all clearance operations in the field locations.
  • Carry out any other responsible task as directed by TFM and TA.
  • Be responsible for submitting logistical requests to the Supply Chain with the minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for procurement.
  • Once per month conduct QC of three percent of the subsurface cleared area.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to demonstrate proactivity in Explosive Ordnance Clearance process and the ability to lead multi gender teams by respecting core competencies of DRC. You are expected to correctly monitor compiling of task folders and reporting system of DRC HDP sector. Moreover, you should be able to describe working knowledge of DRC national staff rules and understand recruitment process. You are expected to demonstrate understanding of DRC procurement procedures.
