We are seeking speakers of Ukrainian with expertise in technical translation to improve the quality of our client’s speech-to-speech translation software (English<>Ukrainian). The main tasks are:

• Correcting machine-translated transcripts of technical training videos to make these more accessible to a Ukrainian audience.
• Identifying text and audio sources of technical language in Ukrainian to improve speech-to-speech translation for teleconferencing software.

Key Responsibilities

Review of machine-translated video content:

• Correct and refine Ukrainian translations of highly technical training videos.
• Ensure translations are accurate and maintain the technical integrity of the original.
• Address and rectify any speech recognition errors from the English source in the Ukrainian output.
• Provide feedback on the quality of Ukrainian machine translation and text-to-speech output.
• Assess alignment of Ukrainian subtitles and audio tracks compared to the original English audio.

Data collection and research:

• Identify sources of domain-relevant text and audio data in a format suitable for model training, such as monolingual Ukrainian or bilingual manuals and documents relating to vehicle repair or other specialized fields.
• Leverage domain-specific experience to enhance the relevance and accuracy of translations.
• Note that candidates with military experience are highly preferred due to the nature of the content.

Requirements:

• Fluency of the Ukrainian language.
• Strong understanding of technical language and terminology.
• Experience in translation and/or speech recognition is preferred.
• Ability to provide detailed and constructive feedback.
• Domain-specific knowledge especially in areas such as military or vehicle repair is a significant advantage.
