Ciklum is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS with OpenSearch) to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS with OpenSearch), become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and administer a highly available enterprise grade ElasticSearch/OpenSearch cluster running in AWS
• Provide expertise and recommendations in terms of cluster utilization, performance, instance types, design patterns, cost optimization, security
• Be able to quickly identify bottlenecks, resolve errors, provide proactive maintenance, implement optimization strategies for cost and efficiency in relation to ElasticSearch or OpenSearch cluster
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex system-wide issues, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures
• Mentor team members, foster a culture of continuous learning, and share best practices within the organization
• Stay updated on emerging DevOps tools and AWS services, evaluating their potential impact and driving adoption

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Proven track record of designing, implementing and administering large-scale OpenSearch or ElasticSearch solutions
• 5+ years of experience in a Cloud or DevOps engineering role with significant AWS experience
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and architect robust solutions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Relevant AWS certifications are highly preferred (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Security Specialty)

Desirable

• Cloud: Deep knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and design patterns
• Programming or Scripting: Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash)
• Containerization and Microservices: experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and microservices architectures
• Infrastructure as Code: Expertise in configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.) or provisioning tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Robust Networking: In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, VPC design, hybrid cloud architectures, and network security
• Security Focus: Strong understanding of cloud security principles, penetration testing, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS)
