This position will be based in Dnipro, with frequent business trips around the region.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
A clinical psychologist will provide specialized psychological counseling and counseling to patients, including in an inpatient setting, and provide appropriate referrals. In addition, he will conduct structured clinical assessments, oversee patient management, and provide initial assessment and management of emergencies. This role requires collaborating with medical personnel, participating in program development, and providing psychological first aid as needed while maintaining confidentiality. Additional responsibilities include supporting the identification and treatment of priority mental health disorders during crisis situations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide on-the-job support to medical staff in identifying and treating priority mental health conditions during crisis situations.
  • Providing specialized psychological counseling and counseling to beneficiaries in hospitals and other locations related to travel or work from the office.

  • Conduct structured clinical assessments, articulate clear cases, and assess cognitive, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Oversee the assessment of case management for quality reporting and analysis, aligning action plans with the principles of protection.
  • Effectively complete initial assessments, evaluations, and follow-up documentation.
  • Manage emergencies by ensuring proper referrals and follow-up procedures.
  • Provide support in the development of integrated data collection tools, focusing on referrals and follow-ups.
  • Contribute to the development of curricula, materials, SOPs and protocols for MHPSS programmes.
  • Provide Psychological First Aid (PPA) as needed, using standardized assessment tools.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers and community engagement colleagues.
  • Conduct assessments in hospitals, communities, or shelters as needed, including remote telephone consultations.
  • Participate in case management meetings, report on patient development, and participate in case discussions.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation of services provided to clients in support of quality monitoring and effective project management, ensuring the confidentiality of customer identification information at all times.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings to facilitate the planning and effective execution of projects.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on cases to the MHPSS manager, including feedback, concerns, and recommendations.
  • Maintain an impeccable level of privacy and confidentiality.
  • Conducting group sessions and trainings, as well as support groups.
  • Participate in various trainings and meetings organized by the employer.
  • Perform any other tasks that the supervisor deems necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least a bachelors degree in psychology or higher (masters, masters degree in psychology, doctorate in psychology, or Ph.D.).
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field of clinical psychology and providing specialized psychological counseling in the humanitarian field through NGOs.
  • Trained, certified, and experienced in the use of evidence-based psychological interventions in humanitarian settings.
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical supervision and training,
  • Knowledge and experience with interagency standards and guidelines in the field of MHPSS, such as the IRC Guidance on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergencies.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of protection, case management and client-centric assistance in humanitarian situations.

  • Development of a person-centered, goal-oriented, force-oriented, recovery-oriented care plan.
  • Mental health in complex emergencies (IPC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP...).
  • Biopsychosocial model in mental health.
  • Community-based approach to mental health.
  • A human rights-based approach to mental health.
  • Knowledge of the perceived stresses associated with humanitarian assistance and the policies and practices needed to mitigate them.

SUBORDINATION
  • The position reports directly to the MHPSS Manager.
  • Technically subordinate to the MHPSS Specialist
  • Work closely with other members of the health and protection team, including the Senior MMU Officer and the project psychiatrist.
