Call for Proposals: Consultancy – Trainer for Workshop on Impact Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation

Background:

AMICA e.V. is a non-governmental organization based in Freiburg/ Germany and supports women and girls in crisis regions and post-conflict areas who have experienced gender-based violence (GBV). Our core areas of activity include psychosocial work with traumatized patients, medical assistance, and legal advice. We offer measures to secure a stable livelihood and to achieve equal opportunity, peace and reconciliation for women and girls. AMICA e.V. stands for a long-term cooperation with local partner organizations by supporting them with measures for capacity development and by empowering them to operate independently. AMICA cooperates with local partner organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon/ Syria, Ukraine, and Libya.

AMICA has been working in Ukraine on the topic of conflict-related GBV since 2018. In various projects, AMICA supports a Ukrainian partner organization in providing and implementing comprehensive support systems for women traumatized by war and affected by conflict-related GBV. A new project is starting in Ivano-Frankivsk in May 2024. In this project, a counselling center provides psychosocial and legal support for women affected by violence and war, with a special focus on internally displaced persons (IDPs). The project further includes measures to raise awareness of violence, women’s rights, and existing support structures; training and qualification measures to enhance women IDPs’ income; and capacity development measures for the partner organization. For this project, AMICA and the partner organization are looking for a trainer to conduct a workshop on impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation with the partner organization.

Purpose and objective of the consultancy – Workshop on impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation:

As part of the capacity development at our partner organization, a workshop on impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation shall be conducted for several project staff. The objective is to enable the partners to conduct impact assessment in such a way that they can cover internal information needs with the limited resources at their disposal, and at the same time meet the requirements of international donors.

The workshop shall enable the partner organization to develop impact measurement tools, and to integrate them into a monitoring and evaluation system. This shall be achieved through hands-on exercises: As part of the workshop, the partner organization shall develop impact measurement tools for its current project.

The trainer shall assist the partner organization in designing adequate data collection tools for the purpose of project monitoring and impact assessment. The tools shall meet the needs of the project, and the trainer shall instruct the project staff in the use of the tools. Through this hands-on process, the partner organization shall learn how to create and use data collection tools for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation.

Duration, timing, location:

• The workshop shall take place in June or July 2024.
• The maximum foreseen number of working days is 6 days (3 workshop days and 3 preparation and follow-up days).
• The workshop shall take place in Ivano-Frankivsk or online.

Deliverables & tasks:

The assignment requires the trainer to

• Attend a briefing ahead of the workshop, in which the deliverables are clarified, the project context and requirements for monitoring and evaluation are discussed. Briefings will be held in English.
• Prepare and conduct a workshop on monitoring and evaluation, in line with the project’s requirements. The workshop will be held in Ukrainian.
• Together with the workshop participants, elaborate adequate data collection tools.
• Where necessary, complete and correct data collection tools in line with the project’s needs.
• Ensure communication with the partner organization and AMICA e.V. regarding the assignment.

Your profile:

The trainer should meet the following requirements regarding qualifications and experiences:

• University degree in a relevant field
• Sound knowledge of evaluation methods and instruments
• Minimum of 5 years proven work experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation
• Experience in working with (small) civil society organizations
• Gender sensitivity and interest in women’s rights
• Sound knowledge of psycho-social work in the context of armed conflict and GBV, especially in Ukraine, is an asset
• Fluent in Ukrainian, and English

The trainer should possess the following personal skills:

• Strong communication, facilitation and inter-personal skills including tact and cultural sensitivity
• Flexible, creative and innovative
• High degree of reliability and discretion
