Position Title:Project Assistant (Veterans Employment)

Duty Station:Lviv, Ukraine

Classification:General Service Staff, Grade G4

Type of Appointment:Fixed-Term, One Year with the possibility of extension

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Ukraine and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant for Technical & Vocational Training in the MSDL Unit, the successful candidate will assist in implementation of IOM Ukraine’s economic recovery activities that focus, inter alia, on technical and vocational training, employment opportunities, and economic development with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for family and community reintegration of veterans.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Provide general assistance in the implementation of project activities pertaining to technical and vocational training, job matching, and job creation for veterans and their families, and coordinate with other units as required.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  • Assist in the collecting information on potential partnerships for the implementation of project activities.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, training sessions and other project activities.
  • Maintain routine communication with (potential) beneficiaries, implementing partners, consultants, service providers, and project partners as assigned.
  • In coordination with the supervisor, support the organization of required financial, procurement and administrative documents for project-related activities.
  • Undertake duty travel within Ukraine as required.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma/certificate with at least four years of relevant professional experience;

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Education, Economics, Development studies, Migration, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in projects/activities supporting reintegration of veterans and their families;
  • At least 1 year of experience in administrative and organizational work;
  • Experience in working with persons with disabilities is an advantage;
  • Experience of work in economic recovery, livelihoods, and/or technical and vocational education;
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills;
  • Critical thinking, research, and analytical skills;
  • Basic knowledge of national labour market specifics is an advantage;
  • Advanced usage of MS Office.

Languages

Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.
