We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious associate (3-5 years post qualified) or senior associate (5-8 years post qualified) to join our Life Science and Healthcare team, based in our Kyiv office.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a life sciences lawyer to join the world’s most future facing law firm. Our Life Sciences/Commercial groups have an opportunity for an industry-focused regulatory and commercial lawyer to join our prestigious Life Sciences and Healthcare team, and a top-ranked sector group of over 380 life sciences specialists globally. The Life Science and Healthcare team advises on a broad range of matters for clients ranging from large, blue-chip organisations to emerging companies and charities. The team advises clients in a broad range of sectors, including human and animal pharma, biotech, medical technology, healthcare services, medical cannabis, consumer health & household products, food and cosmetics.

The successful candidate will focus on life sciences, advising clients on R&D and clinical trials, placing medical products on the market, market access, pricing, reimbursement and procurement, intellectual property issues, commercial and collaboration arrangements, commercialisation and supply chain, promotion and advertising, competition and health data privacy. You will draft and negotiate commercial contracts, commercial policies, documentation on patient support programmes and expanded access. Additionally, you will support clients’ brands protection, and assist with activities aimed at eliminating illicit trade and counterfeiting. You will provide efficient professional support to partners and team members, develop professional relationships with clients, support the wider group in developing business, and you will be involved in marketing events.

About you

We are looking for an energetic, proactive and enthusiastic individual with a high level of expertise, strong business English, and an excellent knowledge of Ukrainian; someone who can remain calm under pressure and who is able to manage and prioritise competing demands.

To support our valued clients in the fast-moving life sciences landscape, we are looking for a candidate with a future-facing mind-set, and while the role is Kyiv based, we are open to alternative locations. We would love to hear from candidates that have:

solid experience gained in private practice or in-house in Ukraine
experience drafting and negotiating commercial or project agreements in the sector
knowledge of and experience in the life sciences sector; an understanding of the life sciences regulatory regime would be helpful but is not essential
a commitment to professional development and to becoming a sector expert
at least 3-5 years of full-time experience in the Life Science/Pharma/Healthcare sector
excellent drafting skills and the ability to translate legal theory into practical advice
excellent analytical skills and experience of running your own files and assisting partners on more complex, higher value and strategic advice and transactions
sound judgment and good interpersonal and consultancy skills
experience and confidence in dealing directly with clients in major blue-chip companies
Ukraine qualifications with a degree in law from a reputable university
excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Ukrainian (other languages would be a plus)
a commercial approach as well as strong interpersonal, administration and time management skills
flexibility, the ability to multi-task and to work under pressure
the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
