ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our Client is a fast-growing, Berlin-based fintech company founded by an award-winning team. The client`s product is innovating in next generation Embedded Finance. We enable financial products for banks, Fintechs and non-financial services companies. We build a platform that is connected to a growing number of financial product providers (bank accounts, cards, investment solutions, loans, insurances and value-added services) and deliver these services on a unified APIbasis as well as via our embeddable front-end components. Our customer is the one-stop-shop for Embedded Finance.

PROJECT DETAILS

We are seeking an experienced backend developer to join us as a consultant, available to address immediate, high-priority projects on an as-needed basis. Youll work with us to develop and optimize modules, microservices, and integrations for our API-based backend system, which connects to third-party financial services, standardizes them, adds value-add features (such as data analysis to identify customer needs), and delivers them through our developer portal or front-end teams APPs. Youll collaborate with a skilled, lean, and modern engineering team that values transparency and trust. This role offers exposure to the rapidly growing fintech industry and the chance to influence the future of a dynamic start-up recognized as a top 50 most innovative startups in Europe by TechRound and - according to Mastercard - is the best Fintech business model in Europe 2024. You should be able to work independently, deliver high-quality results on tight deadlines, and manage multiple urgent tasks as they arise. Work will focus on general platform development and customer-driven enhancements to meet immediate needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop software solutions to address urgent business needs in the fintech space, leveraging established design patterns and coding standards.
• Build secure, durable, scalable, and accessible solutions while proactively mitigating production support issues.
• Operate within Agile Software Development processes and methodologies.
• Deliver high-quality code and configurations under tight timelines.
• Ensure software quality through automated regression testing, unit tests, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with QA and Operations to facilitate rapid integration into test and production environments.
• Provide project leadership on short-term development efforts, organizing and guiding a team of developers as needed.
• Lead technical discussions, encouraging a culture of technical excellence and identifying key opportunities for innovative solutions.
• Coach and mentor other developers on an ad hoc basis to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Participate in iterative prototyping based on project requirements, ensuring quick, high-quality turnarounds.

SKILLS

Strong engineering background, motivated by technical challenges, and capable of hands-on development work. • 3+ years of development experience across all phases of development - from design through production. • Proficient in Java development, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and NoSQL databases. • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or MIS preferred, or equivalent experience. • Solid understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform functionality and compatibility of applications. • Fluent in English and a strong communicator. • Team-oriented, but comfortable working independently in a consulting capacity. • Familiar with agile development methods and able to adapt quickly to urgent project needs. • Experience in product management is highly desirable. • Ideally located in Germany (betst Berlin) to facilitate occasional in-person collaboration if needed. • Previous experience in fintech or digital banking is a plus, but not essential.
